Why do people practise Aikido?

Reasons are as the leaves in the tree

For every member of the dojo, there is a different motivation to practice; from fitness to confidence, from self defense to discipline and beyond. While people have differing motives for begining AIkido, the journey itself affords us shared experiences and learning opportunities. Those that have trained for several years typically report expereincing improved health and body condition, greater clarity and a more centred and stable outlook.

Martial arts is intended to be life long journey, with those practicing over several decades reporting deep structural changes and spiritual insights. Unlike many other activities, Aikido practitioners routinely practice into their 70's and 80's.
