Felicia Okami
Felicia Sensei has been a dedicated full-time student of Peter Sensei since 2021. In a remarkably short time, she achieved the rank of Shodan (Black Belt) under Peter Sensei and has since become an instructor in both the children’s and adult Aikido programs.
Despite her small stature, Felicia has developed a dynamic and remarkably powerful style of Aikido. Her technical ability is a testament to her consistent dedication on the mat, disciplined approach to training, and the close mentorship she has received throughout her martial arts journey.
To broaden her understanding of martial arts, Felicia has also undertaken extensive training in Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. These complementary disciplines have enriched her technical foundation while providing valuable context for her Aikido practice.
A committed meditator and yoga practitioner, Felicia was naturally drawn to the Shinzenryu methodology, which integrates rigorous physical training with inner cultivation. She appreciates the opportunity to develop both the external and internal aspects of martial arts through sincere practice.
Felicia’s enthusiasm for Japanese culture, her genuine passion for martial arts, and her warm, encouraging nature make her a valued instructor and an integral member of the Melbourne Aikido Dojo community. Whether you are stepping onto the mat for the very first time or continuing your martial arts journey, Felicia Sensei looks forward to welcoming you to the dojo and sharing the practice of Aikido with you.
